Because of high blood pressure and protein and a doctor I never met before today was on call, my treatment of Avastin and Zometa was not given today. I feel angry (with this doctor) and horrible (like I am a failure). This is the first time this has happened since I have started treatment for mets one year ago.

I don't have mets, but I have a new cancer that I have been in treatment for since April.
I have missed over three weeks of treatment because of a post-op infection and I feel the same way. I also feel like the cancer cells are getting a jump on me.
I am scheduled to resume on Wednesday, hopefully.

My onc assures me that we carry over enough meds to keep us covered, but I understand your frustration!

I hope you get your counts to where they are meant to be so you can resume tx soon.

Hugs,
g

With the Avastin if the protien ratio is not right they will hold the trteatment same if the BP is high, especially the lower number.
Do they have you on meds for the bp? the protien ratio is important cause it can cause bladder & kidney issues you don't want. However I was told that the chemo is active in us for several weeks and that's why they feel they can hold a few without compramising us.

I was on hold for two weeks this last time. I've now held 4 different times since I started back up in May.

I too understand feeling like why can't my body handle this so I can get the treatments over with sooner. But I trust the Lord will guide the chemo and my Oncs to do the job they need to.

hang in there

Thank you for the words of encouragement. My protein number was high as well as my bp. I have had my bp med changed and have taken additional tests for the protein. It's the wait and see period. I really appreciate the kind words!
