Yesterday I went to a shoe party.
The designer is from LA and she designs the most amazing mules...
It looked like I walked into Marie Antoinette's closet when I got there.
Of course, my sister in law, who is a stylin architect, had the yard decked out with high tea accoutrements with little cakes and cookies and champagne and pate's and her amazing collection of china.

The designer has you pick out fabrics that you like- just by what you like, not necessarily what you want on a shoe. The fabrics are brocades, velvets, tafetta, silk, etc.
Then she starts pairing the ones you like together.
You then pick what style shoe you like and she shows you how it would be on the shoe. Then you pick your heel and the fabric that covers that.

There were a lot of pinks that I gravitated to- but NY in the fall and winter and pink? So I decided on a Napoleonic bee pattern, i have a lot of bee patterns in my house, and a Greek Key pattern.  I looked for a dragonfly- yes I love dragonflies too- very big with me! - but she didn't have any.

Then she measures and draws your foot. And she will go back to her California studio and make the shoe. She said I should have mine sent to me by November 15th.

here is a picture of some of them:

Shirley- I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!! I want a room for my shoes too- BUT I want Handsome Rob to live with me!

Gosh, G, I LOVE shoes.  My brother used to call me Imelda because I have so many pairs.  And my friend, Cindy, and I can shoe shop together for hours, days, weeks..... And I LOVE that movie too.  I especially liked the fairy godmother.  I think that a shoe party is a wonderfully fun idea.  You will now have a pair of shoes like nobody else.  Wow.

Okay, so I was sitting here playing this Diamond Drop game on my bro's computer and I got to thinking about that movie & I KNOW why I like the fairy godmother the best......she's me!!  She runs around in this confused state where she can't find anything, but she ends up getting it done and she's dressed like nobody else on the planet and carried this huge bag full of all the junk she needed.  YUP, that's me.

Did you get your car cause of the movie. I saw mine for the first time in The Bourne Identity, but fell in love with it in The Italian Job.

Nancy what movie are you talking about?

OMG! I love, love , love shoes. I had about 80 pair when I married my husband. His home was not as large as mine, so I had to down size .

Then the neuropathy ended wearing allot of them. My feet seem much better, so maybe it is time for more shopping!

The movie is called "If the Shoe Fits" and it has Rob Lowe as this fashion designer and Jennifer Grey as this kinda supposedly Cinderella kind of shoe designer.  She has these two roommates who are the ugly stepsisters and she falls in love with RL.  She has a goofy fairy godmother who puts a spell on these silver shoes she designed and every time she puts them on she gets all beautiful.  I think the movie was made in France because most the people are French except for RL & JG.  It's really campy and cute.  A real "get away from real life"  treat.  I think it's out on video.

Gina, those are very cute shoes.  I'd like to check out her website, especially since I am in CA.

Twink, I buy from Zappos as well.  There is another one I haven't tried yet - shoebuy.com  Free shipping and free returns; haven't compared their prices to Zappos though.

Shoes...beautiful shoes...shoe dreams....love those shoes!
Sculptural designs for bipeds.  Required, a beautiful design and no cheese, please.

Quality, creativity, comfort, and elegance.  I have so many shoes, and not enough shoe deposits for hiding them from DH.  Coats, sweaters, socks, shoes, boots...love boots!

My feet are fluctuating in size since the steroids, chemo, etc.  It is so weird.
Thank goodness I don't live in New York City, the shoe capital of the galaxy!

I'd have to be the old lady who lived in a house made of shoes, and no one could enter, because everyone would be tripping over the shoe boxes. lol

You guys are going to laugh at me on this one….

My feet are almost square.  I have a size 6 EEE width foot!  I also have a very high arch and a “deep instep…in other words, I am usually going to have better luck getting the shoe BOX too fit my foot instead of the shoe.

When we moved back to Alaska 4+ years ago, I decided I was not going to move any show that hurt my feet.  I threw away everything except one pair of tennis shoes, 2 pairs of Birkenstock clogs and a pair of sandals.  Everything else went bye-bye!

I have since added:

A new pair of birks

One pair of black Mary-jane looking pumps

A pair of winter boots

And a pair of bright blue rubber boots

Oh, and I guess you could count my chest waders.  That is all the footwear I own…Not exactly high style..LOL…The good news is that our area is so casual that you can go to the best restaurant in the state in fishing boots and no one would even look twice.

Gina, and everyone,

Because I can wear anything between a 6 and a half and a 9 and a half, people are always giving me the shoes they can't wear, or don't like...along with sisters, friends, and irresistable ebay, zappo's, and a love for "vintage", it was truly a sickness.

I worked at a shoe store for three months, once.  Had to quit, spent more on shoes than what I earned...didn't like the job either.  Liked the shoes, though! lol.

You can have your shoes widened by a " good" shoe maker...I had it done with some expensive shoes and love them now.  They did a great job, and it was inexpensive.
