Send those positive vibes girls!

Looking for NED if possible!

If there is, no more than the one spot in my neck, but NED would be ideal!

Not what I wanted to hear. My surgeon called me to tell me that not only did 1 lymph in my neck light up, but more as well as nodules in the lung. She was hoping it might be due to me being on antibiotics for my cold, but the radiologist does not believe that.

So, I am in shock at the moment.

Dear Sam,
I hope you can feel me holding you tight? Let's see what your oncologist says. There are medications and radiation treatments that you can take and get rid of these things and be stable and then NED again. THERE ARE.

Remember my fashion show/party in October? Three of the women had advanced disease and rocked that runway and looked and felt fantastic. They all had to hear news like you just heard, then they did what they had to do, and now they are  LIVING their lives YEARS past that dx....
Take a look HERE -  see how awesome they are?

I know how scared you are. But please, please, please don't go to that dark place that we ALL naturally want to go to.   I know you, girl. I have seen you fight cancer three times and win and you will do it again. We go WAY BACK.
And I, personally, will NOT let anything happen to you.

You are Her2+ and there is a new drug for that now. Lung spots can be radiated and chemo can shrink them back to nothing. The neck nodes can be radiated as well.  We'll get those suckers. WE WILL.
lots of love to you my sweet friend,
g

Thanks. I know I will find a way to gear up for all of this eventually. I am going to Froedtert in Milwaukee next Wednesday and I hope they will have some good options.

Right now, I am just spending a lot of time crying! I should have bought stock in tissue!

The goal will be to remit the active disease though a multimodal approach, as Gina has sketched: a combination of local treatment (radiotherapy, resection), plus systemic therapy, and here again Gina is right: you have a highly favorable therapeutic spectrum  of agents, both anti-HER2 and endocrine, with chemotherapy if needed; for that we need to know the precise extent of disease involvement, tumor size, and total tumor burden, but triple positive tumor biology carries exceptional favorable prognosis.  And remember we don't know the extent of involvement, so it may be minimal or moderate, and solely single-viscera (lung) plus locoregional.

But there seems still to be some indeterminacy between surgical and radiological assessments, and if this is not resolvable, it may require biopsy for final determination, but let's see what your oncologist says, and this does now require an oncologist to both make the assessment and weigh, with you, the treatment options.  Once we have more precise pathological info, I can suggest some highly effective, patient-tolerable, optimal regimens.

So it may look dark, and its understandable to be so hard hit with the news, human all too human, but we'll get you through to the  other side of this, and I know you to  be a fighter - I've seen it in past (we go back  a ways, us two), and you'll have the collective strength and support of the No Surrender community with you, not just behind you.  Meanwhile, as I say often, anxiety is a enemy, so be liberal with lorazepam (Ativan).

We're here.

Thank you Edge.

I am just reeling from all of this information tonight. I know my oncologist on Thursday and the dr. at Froedtert next week will give me more to absorb and consider.

I just hate that I am in this position right now even though I know I can't do anything to change it.

I am just hoping and praying that I can get through this and get done with it and be okay again.
