I am having a bone density scan-not too worried about that one. That is just to check that my bones are holding up now that I have been put in a chemically-induced menopause.

But, right after that I have a PET scan to see if things are okay. I just had one in September and all was well, but this will help determine if I stay on my Herceptin and if that ovary is a concern for thyroid cells.

Wish me luck!

Sam,
sending you  prayers and holding your hand.
Scary to go through all these tests. I sometimes think the fear is worse than everything else.....

Sweet lil sister. You have been through so much.
It has been such an honor to know from the beginning.
You always have my prayers and love.
If that ovary looks funky- get it out. Then you can finally relax.
Love you
g

Sam - my thoughts and prayers are with you ... know that we are there with you in that room as you're getting the scan ...   sending lots of positive thoughts out there for you .. and prayers for a clean scan.  I agree with Gina - get that funky ovary removed and get rid of that source of worry/anxiety. It's an easy surgery...   laproscopic - typically outpatient surgery.

Hope your wait for the scan results is short!

Hugs and prayers,
Doreen

Thanks everyone! I did picture all of you there with me as I sat in darkness for 45 minutes waiting for the PET scan to begin.

Hopefully all will be well. I said it a few months ago, but when I had a PET 2 years ago (when they knew I had a recurrence), I could actually feel activity in my breast and then the lymph node in my neck that was reactive.

Crossing my fingers that no sensation is a good sign!

ALL CLEAR!!

The nurse called today and said that my PET and bone density scans look good!

I go in Friday for Herceptin so I imagine they will discuss my ovary situation and what the plan is for my Herceptin. I know they were considering stopping it.

Thank you to all for your support!

I will definitely post after my doctor appt today so we all know the other plans they might have.

It sure makes it a lot easier to go to the appt knowing the tests "look good"

Well, the verdict is in!! I am no longer on Herceptin as of today. My doctor feels it is appropriate to stop it since I have been on it has been a year and a half and I have completely clear scans!! I also discussed my ovary and she agreed that since my bone scan was perfect, the ovary can go ahead and come out. I will be scheduling that in the near future. I will also be changing from Tamoxifen to Femara in June. This is a similar drug to Tamoxifen that will still block my Estrogen, but it has an added benefit of bone protection. I will continue to go every 6 weeks to have my port flushed since I plan to keep that in and they will continue blood tests.
