Dear Madam CZAR - Just checking in to let you know it's now 3:04 pm my time and I have walked over 7000 steps.  So how many steps do I have to do for my 5K?  10,000?

Hugs

ok a little punching today...lol...it feels so good...

if you have a bag great otherwise...get a small pillow, stuffed animal..or a picture of your favorite person...lol...

punching techniques....

make a fist, thumb on the outside, otherwise you'll break it....

when you hit, use only the first two knuckles....you'll be able to tell...they may get a little red...

start with your fist at your hip...thumb up.....throw the pillow straight up...

punch, twisting your fist, punching at the center of your chest....

keep your wrist straight and elbow relaxed....

ok now this will help relieve stress and you have to bend to pick up the pillow too...

switch sides...

Liz...10,000 is to be healthy...go for as many over...and you should be jogging a bit too....get the heart rate up....

Jenni..so glad you joined us...

hugs MB

if i have the math correct
5K is a bit over 3.1 miles ( 1 km = .62 miles)
it's 5280 feet per mile and a stride is about 2 feet so that would be about .... (carry the 9) .... 8,200 steps ... .....

Ok walked my butt off for a week, did the weight watcher flex plan faithfully and drank water till it was coming out my ears... and only lost 2 pounds????
Does Tamoxifen make it harder to lose weight?
Thanks MB

jenni - wow!  I am mega impressed.  Thanks for the info.  It looks like it's a really long way on the map.  LOL

MB - I'm walking (haven't for a couple of days) but plan on getting back to it when I'm feeling better.  Oh yeah - jogging?  ROFLMAO  Do you remember my knees while I was at Pinkstock?  I walk fast (thanks to the neighbors dog) now.  Had my heart rate up to 130 a few days ago.  He likes to move quickly.

Cheryl - I'm not on Tamox but am on Arimidex.  I know that they both cause abdominal weight gain and YES it's much harder for me to lose it now.  2 pounds isn't bad at all though.  Remember - the slower you lose it, the longer it stays off.   Keep it up.

Hugs

one of the things i found with the walk-a-thons is that there is usually lots going on to take your mind off the mileage ... our Komen Race for the Cure had a different band every 1/2 mile and high school cheerleaders, crowds waving, etc ... just the adrenalin will carry you a mile
best of luck !

Cheryl....

sorry to tell you the bad news...we are women and older and BC survivors...yada yada yada,,,,yup its harder all the way around...NOW 2 pounds is Awsome on WW...keep up withthe water & excersie...it will come off...I lost many pounds 2 at a time with Flex points...the exercise is the biggest help...

LOL...Liz....jogging...hmmm I guess I need a sarcasim sign...sorry...but Jenni is right you'll do just fine and adrenalin will make it seem very short...make sure you have a hot tub lined up for afterward...or hop a plane and use mine...candles and lights are finally up and very cool looking at night...

hugs to all

jenni - I had forgotten all about the people lining the streets cheering you on.  That does help distract from what you're doing.  I haven't spoken with Tri to see if she still wants to do the 5K or not.

MB - I have officially walked 10,700 steps today.  Oh what a treat that would be to fly to your house after the race.  Wish it were possible.

I forgot to weigh this morning.

Hugs

It is 2:40 pm and I have walked 11,473 steps.  I'm not sure how far DH and I walked but it was a heck of a long way!    I'll drive it later and report back.

So tell me this, when I walk my hands swell BAD!  How can I stop this?  They used to do it years ago also so it's not from the BC.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the encouragement!

Hugs
Liz

Just drove the route we took - 3.6 miles.  It took us about 1 hour 10 minutes.  That included stopping in at my moms for a bottle of water.

Liz, my hands swell and get cold ...lack of circulation I was told....
I use a wrap for my elbow...bought it at the local sports store...guess it would be like a lymphdema sleeve...it really helps me...I move my arms when I walk and make fists with my hands to keep them from swelling...take a little squishy ball to squeeze.....one of those stress things...lol...

and maybe try the yoga stretches ...did I send them to you?

3.6 miles wow thats great....

...its firewood season here so lots of hauling and walking thru the woods...I just love fall....

take care all

Thanks - I do swing my arms and make fists but it didn't help yesterday.  A wrap for my elbows?  Hmmmm.

No you didn't send me any yoga stretches.  Not that I remember though.
I do know I'm stiff today and my right ankle is giving me fits.  I'll walk later this evening as it's going to be almost 90 degrees here today.

Hugs

butt work today...lol....

stand infront of a step..or low workout bench..(step arobic type)

step up with left foot...point right toe down..rub slightly against edge of step..but do not put it on top...hold...and tighten stomach & butt muscles...

relax and step back with right foot, and place left foot back on ground.. repeat.. (10 reps) then switch sides.....

Add small hand weights , keeping your arms down by your side...

hugs the Czar...
