My insurance company denied me having another PET scan next week. They said since I am not currently undergoing chemo or have another test that is weird, that they feel there is no benefit for me as a metastatic patient to have a PET scan.

Well, my doctor had a call with them and  it is now approved!!

How can there be no benefit when a positive scan would mean going back on chemo and no scan would mean no treatment?

UGH! I may have metastatic disease, (although 100% clear right now), but that doesn't mean things have no benefit for me!!

Because insurance companies are insane! I cannot believe what they say no to! I once had a breast mri scheduled, you know how you put both breast in the two holes of the machine, the insurance company would only approve it for one breast. The doctor was like, Um, we have to do both!
I am So glad you have a true fighter as a doctor- just like you!!!
love,
g
