Cheryl and Lisa, that's great news on the weight loss.  I need to do something.  The dr. wrote me a prescription for xenical but my ins won't cover it or any weight loss medication.  Anyone try alli yet?

MARGO... I haven't tried Alli yet but I have tried others similar to it. Nothing worked for me so far except WW slow but sure. Actually I think what got me losing again was switching from WW Flex (points) to WW Core (eliminating certain foods and eating smaller portions) I think my problem is carbs so I cut most of them last week and notice a big difference. I still watch my points too. It isn't easy is it?! I was getting soooo discouraged at staying the same for almost 2 months I was about ready to give up.

Cheryl, I just posted a WW recipe (at least I think it's WW, my sister is the WW queen and she gave it to me yesterday) for angel food cake - two ingredients - on the sweet tooth thread.  I think core would be too restrictive for me so I'm going to try to incorporate at least one or two WW dinner recipes in our meals for the week.  My eating habits are like my life - when I want it, I want it NOW, which is why my weight is where it is now LOL.

Okay - here's the "skinny"  on Alli.  It was previously prescribed as Xenical.  Alli is the same dosage now.  It works well providing you adhere to the strict diet provided in the information.  It works this way:  any fats you eat are blocked by the medicine thus meaning that you had best be by a potty really fast if you cheat.  I took it when it first came out.  I got very tired very quickly of having such a limited amount of food I was allowed.  Nowadays, I think I could do it as I've changed my eating habits.  The thing with Alli as with all other diets is behavior modification.  You have to decide that you will continue to eat in a certain way for life.  My friend has lost over 30 pounds by counting calories and having to report to me daily as to what she ate.  It's worked.  She's slacked a bit lately but is still working at it.

As for me, I have completely blown it since returning to work.  I don't get a lunch time so it's either snacking on junk or not eating until I get home.  I got a free 30 day membership to a gym here in town and am going to go see what it's like this evening.  If I don't do something soon, I'm going to apply to be in the next jello commercial.

Dieting sucks!

I've always been afraid to take xenical or meridia for that reason then I decided to do it, and wouldn't you know, now insurance companies won't cover it.  Liz, does alli do the stained orange thing that xenical does?  I'm starting to write down what I ate.  Maybe your friend is doing so well because she's accountable.

I'm not sure about the orange thing.  Most likely it does though.  I had forgot about that.  Hated that!  Writing things down in a journal really does work.  I'm pretty sure that's why she did so well this time because she had to be accountable to me.  I think I know someone who is taking Alli and I'll ask them about the orange thing.

I worked out last night for a bit.  The guy who owns the place wasn't there to show us the ropes so we used the stairsteppers (OMG!), treadmill, recumbant bicycle and abloungers.  I'm not as sore as I thought I would be and was actually in better shape than the young girl who went with us.  I'm going to commit to the 30 days that are free and then go from there.  Of course now they've decided to go work out at 6 AM.  Yep morning as in still sleeping time.  I'm going to try it as the gym was pretty warm last night.  Hopefully it will be a bit cooler at that time of the morning.  I bet it's busier also.

Sorry, got sidetracked.  Anyway, I'll find out about the Alli for you and let you know.

I keep seeing the ads for Alli in the magazines and they comment on how if you can loose 10 lbs., on Alli you can loose 15 - I can't even loose 1!

Holy cow I forgot about this thread and haven't been here in almost a year.  I got so caught up in real life

I am proud to say that I have lost 77 lbs and am 2 lbs away from my goal weight (according to my doc - I would like to drop another 10 more).

Here are my before and after pics...

...and I thought I looked *hawt* in the first one - we were at a Mardi Gras party...and I've actually lost a few more pounds since the second picture.

See ladies....YOU CAN DO IT (if I can do it)!!!

Awesome job Sige. I have lost 72 lbs. on Weight Watchers. I am at goal (Lifetime Member since Aug. '08). I can't (don't know how) to post my before/after pics. I'll figure it out (ask DH) later.
