I don't know maybe I missed it on Oprah, or the View, or oh, well those are the only other 2 shows that I can think of other than the Ellen show who have women in the spotlight, who can at least cover the topic of breast cancer and shed some real publicity on it, and they've barely covered it!!  I mean Ellen is dedicating the entire month of October to pink etc. and what the hell are the other 2 shows doing???
Last year when Rosie was on the View they covered it way more.  Look I disagree with a lot of Rosie's views, but at least the woman brought BC to the forefront.
As far as Oprah goes, I'm tired of writing letters to compliment her on the ginormous amount of publicitya topic she raises on her show gets, and how influential she could be in getting more funding for breast cancer research. And like practically begging her to cover the topic in a more indepth manner, only to receive the thank you for your input but the Oprah show covers what it wants.
I'm sure both the Oprah show and the View will have one show about BC in October, but damn, Ellen is devoting an entire month to it.  Kudos to her.I sent her an e-mail to thank her, and thought that maybe more of us on this board should do the same.
Just a suggestion, and sorry if I'm coming across like a woman scorned, so to speak, but it really gets my goat that the few women who actually have a platform to publicize and educate, would rather sit around and talk about wearing bra's or not(the view) or how to keep a second marriage going(oprah).

Oh how I agree with you!
I haven't seen any of those shows but kudos to Ellen for making an effort!
I have noticed that the MEDIA coverage is much less this year... but the MARKETING of the pink is worse this year.

I heard Sheryl Crow was going around the country lecturing and raising money for global warming... Imagine if she did that for BREAST CANCER which she is a survivor of???

This is the part about October that really does help future cancer survivors, and like it not we have to endure. I am glad Ellen sees the need. Frankly Oprah has so much power, that she can cover what she wants to anytime.

Sheryl and the one square lost me, I can not get past it.

Cowgirl/Gina  I'm so glad to hear you say that. Sheryl Crow lost me on that one too.

I do like what Mellisa Etheridge and Ford are doing to raise awareness. I saw an  add in a magazine recently where Kelly Clarkson has signed on to the same campaign.

I happened to have Ellen on yesterday, rarely watch her show but it was cool that everytime someone hit her punch bag it was raising money for Breast Cancer.

Our local newslady who had BC in 03 is doing BC segments on the morning show. Yesterday was about mammosite, the first one I just happened to see. Good job Leann Taylor!

I think The Sisterhood is having an impact.
No more pretty pink ribbon bows on our deadly disease-
let's be real and find a cure already... we don't need a pink vacuum. Really! we don't!

I agree with what's been said already.  Just wanted to add that Robin Roberts has started to get on my nerves with her superwoman attitude.  Maybe is just me but I think she is sending the wrong message.  It's hard to continue working while on chemo.  I know, I did it.  Just can't stand how she makes it seem like it's a walk in the park.  Just yesterday I heard she went on an trip over seas with Mrs. Busch.  Come on, be real.  What is she trying to proof.

Just my two cents worth.  What do you all think?

I think if one more TV station trots out one more BC survivor I may puke....I can just hear the meetings....

"Who do we have that just has one boob?  Is there anyone we can put on the TV and make cry???  We have to keep up with NBC"

Can you tell I am just about "Octobered" out??

Happy Halloween!

I'm looking  forward to "HELLO"ween, as t.v.-weenies wave bye-bye to all the bravo, hooray for pink, and let's get it for all it's worth month.  Turned my t.v. off, can't stand all the stuffy, stuffed, stuff.  Only watch to forget about my boobs, anyway.

Everybody needs a "cause" in the Entertainment World.  If this "cause" has an "effect" and wakes up a few people,  (especially women ignoring a lump or a pain, or who don't go in for mammograms even though they "know, and you know who you are!"), then I don't mind all the publicity.

I am tired of getting lectures from people who have NOT been through this, personally, physically, emotionally and socially...as so many of them said, "let me know if you need anything", and simutaneously disappeared...poof, all gone.

Thanks for the info and the heart spoken understanding.  So glad I am not the only one who feels the sting in a somewhat flawed system for getting the word out about this devastating illness.

I have loved Ellen since her young days when she was on Letterman all the time and thought she was very funny. I love it when she comes out then does a little dance at the beginning of her show, or at least used to. Haven't watched in awhile.
I still miss Phil Donahue, Is the caller there??

I missed what happened to her.
Why was she crying on tv?
Did someone steal her dog or something?

I'm sure Ellen was innocent of all dog charges whatever they were because she is an avid dog lover.  I really admire her. In fact, I'd like to have a small picture, tiny actually, of she & I together to show off.

They probably love the money too!  Can't tolerate any of those programs, lately, too much no-brainer, time-wasting nonsense; everybody's out to make a buck, and like presidents and politics, it's all so tiring and greedy. The Ellen show doesn't "play" here, maybe she's somewhere late-night cable television or the "do-gooders" can't abide the fact that she is political dynamite, as was Rosey.  What the heck was that about, anyway? Donald Trump, millionaire philanderer and liar, makes a mountain out of a molehill.
Meanwhile, he supports destoying and poluting the environment while he farts in the face of women and the campaign for breast cancer awareness.

I like what Sheryl, Cheryl, Crow is doing if she's campaigning to save the environment and support the reality that global warming is, in fact, just one more likely mutating poison causing changes on our planet in which the next generation will suffer and hate our generation for not standing up to the plate and making the politians, millionaires, and famous influential people help to change the screwed up route and global destruction; while they sip their martini's and golf, play tennis, and pretend "life is wonderful"!
