Gina - Yup it is!!!  I have mixed feeling about it all.  I am all for awareness, but I could scream whenever someone says, early detection is the key - well hell!!! I only wish it was that simple for everyone.  I had 6 mammos in a row that were all fine and then bam - I am Dx with stage 3 BC.  I would be happier if they told all sides of the story.  Yes, early detection is important, but also tell about the women who were not caught early on mammos, those with recurrences, those with mets and I could go on and on.

Pink is okay - but get real, who wants or needs a pink vacuum, pink food processor or pots and pans and spatulas etc.  I will buy the pink peppermint patties or M and M's over the regular ones if I am buying them anyways.  If I am buying paper goods, i will buy the ones donating to the cause, it the price is competitive.  BUT, I don't buy pink for the sake of pink.  My two DD do point out the "pink" stuff and Leah bought me a Beanie Bear that has pink ribbons on it. Since I love bears, I was happy to add one to my collection.

One of the local news stations here is a sponsor of the Komen race which is the 7th. They are doing something on BC all week and doing commercials with survivors. Some dumb survivor said something to the effect that she was glad she had BC as it made her a better person (don't remember the exact words). Well, BC has not made me a better person - personally, I was okay before - not perfect but okay.  I sure didn't need BC to grow!!!  I do get tired of all the BC survivors who make comments like this.

And why can't they talk about how BC affects the whole family and not just the person who is Dx?  And why not tell about how hard Tx is.  And yes, we are strong because we endure Tx.

Oh well, its late and I think I am starting to ramble. Gina how are you feeling? Did you start Xeloda today?

Gentle hugs to you.  Karen
