stacy--

beautiful!!!!!!
i really like my shorter hair and so does my hubby--loves to run his fingers thru the curls--(he also liked to rub my bald head, which felt soooo good!)

i am greyer now, used to only have a few stray white ones thanks to my good italian hair genes ;-), but i like it and am embracing growing old with grace...actually, just really grateful to be able to grow old!

as soon as i can get my kids to show me how, i will post my before and after pics...

i remember feeling so free feeling the air on my newly grown stubble...never wore a hat or the wig after that!

thanks Chrissie, Gina and Janeen-
Janeen, that is how I feel. I can put the window down in the car and feel the hair blowing but know that it's not getting all messed up or tangled. It feels good.
I don't know if it will be curly yet, so far no. I talked to a girl Sat. who went through chemo and didn't know hers was curly until it got longer than mine, so we'll see.
It is so soft and fuzzy, though. It's getting thicker by the day.
Cant' wait to see your pics.
love,
Stacy

I just finished A/C.  After I started loosing my hair, I had it cut to about 1".  I still have sparce 1" hair.  Is this unusual?  I still have eyelashes and eyebrows.  My Onc told me to take B100 Complex when I started Chemo.  Could the biotin be preserving some of my hair?  My daughter came home this week.  She couldn't believe I still had hair.  My colored bandanas are sure cooler right now than my wig.

I didn't lose my eyebrow/lashes until the very end. I thought I would luck out. No such luck, although, I did have a few eyebrows all the way to the end and now they are back. I'm plucking and it hurts so good. ha ha....
My lashes are back, but are a little fuzzy, kinda like my hair, so I can't wear mascara yet or it is clumpy. I finished chemo March 23rd. My hair is looking great...I'll post another pic. I never thought the day would come...I go places and feel good about myself, I don't care if people look at me now. They are probably just checking me out now....ha ha ha.

Take care Kay...you will make it

Stacy,

WOW, real hair.  How great!  Good photos.  I still have sparce hair about 1" long.  Amazing.  I still have brows and lashes.  I may lose more with the Taxol.

Just want to pass this on.  My daughter has a friend here in town that had breast cancer.  The friend called and talked to me.  She got great assistance from Susan Komen Foundation with drug copays and doctor copays.  She says it is worth calling them for sure.

I have found that the Indiana Breast and Cervical Cancer Program is handled through the State Dept of Health.  The reason I was having so much trouble is that I was diagnosed  by a provider and at the time diagnosed, I had insurance.  This program has just been amended to be effective July 1 to include people who are caught in the interim.  My doctor's Financial Services lady got to the bottom of it.

Also, I have applied for SSDI.  I have paid into SS for 42+ years.  The money for SS Disability Insurance is there.  My caseworker says my application (because of breast cancer) will go priority to the Board of Review.  She makes this sound promising to me.  I hope she knows.  I will be 62 in Dec.  Can draw early SS.   SSDI would be about $300.00 more monthly.

How is your radiation going?

My daughter was home for a few days.  I showed her pictures of everyone on NoSurrender including your sons.

Forgive if this is a repeat - the web just ate my reply and px. You have to click on these thumbnails to see the px.  I didn't do the photobucket bc they wanted my birthday.  Suppose I could have made it up, but them I forget what I wrote.

I was admiring my eyelashes today thinking of you Coco, and the 'obsession' with the return of the hair, such a sign of well-being.

Stacey, you look so wise and adorable.  My hair has a funny Mohawk cowlick, so I am not ready to go wigless until it grows in some more.  My eyebrows are black, and the hair is now very gray-blond.

Kay, I hope you have a well-funded retirement!  I have to get to the SS office, too.  They say the mantle cell lymphoma that I also have is a fast track to disability - but i am still working.  I would like to do the paper work now.

Love that picture of Olivia pulling my hair, taken just before the surgery and treatments - Love you all - Mary

What wonderful pics of you and your family, Mary. You look strong and beautiful throughout (and pretty sassy in that wig, I might add!). I had to laugh about the "Mohawk" - I had one too! It's a phase that passes quickly so enjoy that extra hair even though it may not be the 'do' you've been longing for. It's great to see you smiling face.

I'm going to try to post a fuzzy head picture for ya'll.  I was bald, bald, bald during AC but my hair started to grow during taxol (around #6).  I just had #10 so I've got a month of growth... the 2nd pic is my wig pic (which I NEVER wear but we took DS to camp today and he asked me to wear it... it looks quite a bit like the hair I had before chemo... straight and dish-water blonde).

We look like buddahs, wise and smiling like the Mona Lisa- Michele, so cute with your little red-head - precious!  My little 1.33 year old grand daughter has always seen me with the dark wig for the past 7 months - today I had the head turban on and she was very reserved with me at first - not quite sure what to make of it.  It must upset their sense of order!

Here is my "hairstory". It is a joint project that my daughter Melissa (age 14) helped with as a homeschool project. It is long, but a work of love...thanks for letting me share.
Hope it helps somebody,
Janeen
