I have a tumor on my right ovary.  I had my first round of Avastin/Taxol on Friday and today I'm having stomach pain about where the cyst would be.  Anybody else have this kind of reaction.  I had bone flares with Zometa where I had bone mets.  Does other kinds of chemo have this reaction?

So this is tomorrow, late at night, and I can't sleep because I am in such pain.  Apparently Taxol does this about 5 days out -- waited until day 6 for me.  I will see  how I cope for tonight.  Tomorrow I will call my care manager and see what she can to for me.  I may go over my limit of 2,000mg of Tylenol tonight.  This is awful.  It hurts as bad as having a baby!

If I am to expect this every time, my onc will need to give me something that works.  Geeze Louise!

Fancy that sounds awful.
I have heard of chemo flares esp if you have bone mets.
Can you take Alleve?
And don't forget Traumeel gel and the tablets - they may help too.
I am so sorry you are going through this.
Maybe you could ask about Abraxane instead of the Taxol?

Sending you a very big and very gentle hug,
love,
g

CTCA rides again!!!  I got a call from a chemo care nurse.  She is calling patients who should be at their "nadir" or low point in their chemo cycle.  She ask about nausea, diarrhea, mouth sores, etc.  When I told he about the bone pain, she said it was an allergic reaction to the Taxol, and I should take Benedryl!!!  Nothing like talking to the person who has the answer!  I had a really bad 12 hours, starting yesterday afternoon.  I'm feeling better now, and I should be pretty functional by the weekend, according to her.  Yee Ha!!!  So now we all know how to handle bone pain from Taxol!  Put it in your medical index, G.

Fancy I am so glad someone contacted you.
I am surprised that they didn't give you the Benadryl in the infusion before your tx...
that is how I got upgraded to Abraxane, I was allergic to the Benadryl they gave me in prep for my first Taxol and because of that they had to give me Abraxane because you don't need it for that.

I am just happy you have found some relief! Twelve hours can sure seem like a very long time when you are in pain like that.

Deb, that is what my onc says, the Cremaphore/Castor Oil  is what causes most of the allergies with Taxol.

Susan it sounds like you did not have a very easy time with your chemo! I am glad you are done with it and on to rads now.

Oh, I had all the extras--and benedryl was amongst them.  This happened six days later.  I now have a lifetime supply of benedryl, so I should be prepared for the worst next time.  I was just blind-sided.  I thought I was past this.  THEN I got a call from the hospital on "nadir" day, when I'm supposed to be having the worst symptoms!  What a NICE bunch of people.  The nurse eplained about bone pain and recommended benedryl.    Wish they had warned me before it happened.
