Of course, this is the big news here in Green Bay.

I am not a huge football fan. I watch it more now because my husband loves it. I have come to have an appreciation for the spirit the town feels towards the team, but I still have no problem doing my shopping during the games since the stores are much less crowded during that time.

However, I am sorry to see Brett Favre go. I saw more than just a football player on the field in him. He had real passion for the game and for life. He matured in the public eye and really made something of himself.

His personal tragedies with his wife's breast cancer diagnosis and his father's passing mirrored our life and made us feel kindred. I do recommend his wife's book. It isn't super detailed with only her cancer story, but talks of their life before and after their crises.

Good luck Brett! Live the next part of your life knowing how much the first part meant to so many here in Green Bay.
