Hi Mary,

I second Gina - hooray for you for insisting on the Biafine!! I used Calendula spray (highest % I could find) but started to burn at 2 weeks. A friend was using the Boiron gel and seemed to be doing okay, so I switched but continued to have trouble. In the end (after trying many many things, I finally got some relief using "Silvadene" creme the nurses gave me. My friend did better than I, but did have some burning toward the end. If I'd known about Biafine, I definitely would have used that instead.

I really understand your impulse to try calendula, aloe, etc., but from my experience, they're just not enough. Consider yourself very lucky to have the Biafine from the very start.

(Note: I can't understand why they keep recommending barrier creams like Aquaphor at the big hospitals. They trapped the heat and felt horrible! )

Curious...and crazy-making, isn't it? Have you started the treatments yet? Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll sail through it.
